Top Beauty Tips!

Hello everyone,

It’s no secret that today’s society is obsessed with how everyone looks! True, it’s effort making sure you look half decent before you leave the house so here are a just a few beauty related tips and tricks I’ve learnt over the years!

Puffy Eyes?

Just one effect of hangovers and lack of sleep, something I’m sure we’ve all suffered a fair amount over time! There are many creams and make up products that claim to abolish all puffy eyes but, shock horror, they all cost a bomb! A quick, and cheap, way to get rid of those unwanted puffy eyes is to simple use a couple of slices of cucumber or potato!

Put your cucumber or potato in the fridge for about five minutes and when its cold enough place it over your eyes for around ten minutes and that should help get rid of those puffy looking eyes!

Trouble Tanning?

If  like me and you're pale and have trouble tanning on holiday, using a body scrub could be your solution to getting that tan you've been wishing for. When I went on holiday to Turkey last year, I had a Turkish bath & scrub and the scrub was probably the main reason why I actually managed to tan! It’s never good to have dead skin cells on your body anyway but as well as making your skin clean and smooth, I find that using a skin scrub before I go away and sunbathe helps me tan better. One of my favourite body scrubs is The Body Shop’s Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt scrub however, if you've forgotten to pack a scrub with you, it's easy to make your own! A bit of sand mixed with water is really all you need to exfoliate your skin to make it smooth and with tanning this method is both free and natural!

Spots?

I learnt this tip from a friend of mine a few years back at first I wasn’t overly keen to try it but I must say, its has worked for me! An easy way to help treat spots is by putting a small amount of white toothpaste on them and leaving it on overnight, washing it off with warm water the next morning. It sounds strange, but toothpaste draws impurities out of clogged pores, dries skins and shrinks the pimple! If you have sensitive skin I would recommend you think carefully before putting anything on your face as reactions can be painful and irritating.

Limp Lashes?

Of course the first part of this tip is no secret, you need to curl your lashes with an eyelash curler! This will give your lashes a better curl and make them appear longer and it will make them look like they have more volume! When it comes to picking eyelash curlers you're spoilt for choice as you can find them pretty much anywhere some retail for up to £20 but I find that a pair from Primark that cost me £1 worked really well too! The main part of this tip is to not only use the curlers, but heat them with a hairdryer before using them! Of course, don’t heat them for too long as you could end up hurting yourself or damaging your lashes, a few short seconds should do the trick! Look at it as if you were curling your hair, hot hair curlers curl hair better than cold curlers, the same goes for eyelash curlers! This trick also works on false lashes too but I haven’t tried that one yet!

Tweezing Pain?

Grooming your brows is just an ordinary, standard part of a make up/beauty routine but lets face it, when it comes to tweezing your brows it can be painful! A quick tip to make tweezing a less painful process is to apply warm water or a cream such as a moisturiser on your brows, this will soften the skin and make it easier to pluck the hairs, causing less pain and lets face it, less misery too!

Want Shiny Hair?

Does your hair lack shine? There are many old school home remedies that are said to do wonders for making dull hair  shiny, vibrant and glossy. Some of these strange methods include putting mayonnaise or egg yolks on your hair, this is meant to be a good way to make your locks shine!  ‘Hair Mayonnaise’ is a highly recommended and highly rated brand to use as it's meant to leave hair feeling smoother and healthier as well as leaving it look glossy.

CLEAN YOUR MAKE UP BRUSHES!

Cleaning make up brushes is very important but it's shocking that so many people simply don't wash their brushes! Think of how much bacteria is in your make up brushes, from all the leftover product to the bacteria on your face, those brushes are crawling with germs! So its important to make sure your make up brushes are clean, as well as helping to prevent spots and bacteria spreading, it also removes traces of old make up giving your make up a better and cleaner finish!

But how do you clean them? Easy! My favourite way to clean my make up brushes is to get a baby shampoo, my favourite being Baby Johnson's, lather it up in your hands and remove all old make up from the brush. You’ll be shocked to see just how much product comes out when the brushes are being washed! When you dry them, make sure you have the bristles facing down, that way the water doesn’t get into the brush and loosen the glue this will make your brushes last longer too!

 Green Tea!

A lot of people don’t see the appeal in drinking green tea, after all it doesn’t look very appealing and why drink green tea when you can have a cup of your usual milk with two sugars? Green tea actually has many health and beauty benefits! Green tea contains lots of antioxidants which can help sooth the skin when the skin is exposed to UV rays from the sun, this also means green tea can help prevent premature ageing! Putting green tea on the skin is an effective way to sooth sunburn. Green tea is also good for soothing skin inflammation and can calm acne and pimples as the antibacterial content reduces over stimulation of the skin hormones, acne and pimples subside considerably when green tea is applied to the area. As well as having all these amazing health benefits, green tea tastes amazing too, it's a win-win situation!

I should mention that these tips may not work on everyone and you should be careful when trying the ones that are for your skin or hair, especially if you have sensitive skin. I’ve tried most of these tips myself but a few have been passed down to me andI have not tried. Hopefully, any tips you use will be effective and have no side effects but it’s better to be careful!

Thank you,
