Perfect Gifts For Students

Hello Everyone,

As Christmas is just around the corner its that time to think about what presents you are going to buy. Buying presents can be difficult, especially when you’re not sure what the person you are buying for wants or needs. As a student, when people ask me what I want for Christmas I’ve started to think what do I really need rather than what I want. Is there anything that would benefit me? Here is a list of good ideas for christmas presents that would be ideal for students, written by a student!

Cocktail Making Set

Lets be honest, what is every students favourite pass time (apart from studying for their degree, obviously)? Going out and drinking of course! This cocktail making set from Drinkstuff would be the perfect gift for a student who loves hosting parties or who just enjoys making the pre drinks! Lots of students find part time work in bars and clubs too so this could actually be very useful for practicing making the drinks. This set has lots of features to help make the perfect cocktail including a Manhattan cocktail shaker, a beginners step by step guide with 150 party drinks, a wooden muddler- ideal for crushing ingredients, a twisted mixing spoon- perfect for layering drinks, a spirit jigger measure, a free flow pourer, 25 stick stirrers, 24 paper umbrella cocktails and 10 sparklers. All of this for £14.99

Speakers

To go with the pre drink cocktails, every student needs some pre drinks music so why not buy them a speaker? Speakers will come in handy for various things from pre drinks to parties to having some background noise when cooking or studying to even adding extra volume to 'family film nights'. The Sound Jar is a speaker that doesn’t require any batteries, you just plug your ipod/phone into the jack, and screw the lid! The Sound Jar is waterproof so it’s perfect to bring into the bathroom or even on holiday/camping. Easily portable and hard to damage this would be a brilliant gift!

Box Sets

University is known to be ‘the time of your life’ which is true! There is always something going on and its very rare to be bored however, there are the odd nights where it’s 3am, you’ve got the next day off and every one else is asleep so what else is there to do? Buying a TV Box set of a show they love or you think they will like will be a good gift for when boredom eventually kicks in. You don’t need to worry if they haven’t got a TV, you can watch DVDs on most laptops/computers these days! If you know all of their other flat/housemates like the show too, it will be a good way for them them to socialise and have a tv marathon for when big nights out are getting too exhausting (or expensive).

Name- Box Sets (take your pick, there are thousands to choose from)
Where Can I Get It?- Almost anywhere! From online to supermarkets, box sets aren’t hard to find!
Price- This depends on the show, how many series there are and how popular the show is/was! They can range from around £15 to around £70!

Textbooks

A present that is definitely more practical than ‘fun’ are textbooks! Yes I know what you're thinking, who wants a text book for Christmas? But textbooks are essential to courses and can be very expensive when you’re a student and have to pay for rent, bills and shopping on a regular basis. Although it isn't the most exciting gift, its very beneficial and will save the student a lot of money/ I’m sure your they will appreciate the free textbook!

Name- There are thousands of textbooks for almost every single degree subject out there!
Where Can I Get It?- There are a range of places you can find them including standard books shops or inline shops, personally I buy mine from Amazon as you can end up saving some money!
Price- again, this depends on the book and how old it is, brand new ones cost more than used ones you can get some used ones for very cheap but these usually have so damage or writing in them. Text books can range from £20 and some can be as expensive as £70 plus. They are very pricey, but very helpful when studying.

Reading Tablet

Tables designed specifically to store books and read from are perfect for people who love to read, but don’t want the hassle of lugging around heavy books. Kindle’s have many features these days, they aren't just for books! They are ideal for students who love to read or who have a lot of textbooks but don't want to take up too much room in their bedrooms, it also saves them lugging heavy books up and down when moving in. The Kindle Fire HDX has a range of exciting features that will make it an excellent gift. There are two cameras to capture all the brilliant memories made at uni, access to social media and email so they never miss out on anything and of course, they can store thousands of books on one device without ever carrying a bag thats too heavy! You can choose either 16, 32 or 64 GB of data so plenty of room for all those text books we were talking about earlier!

Name- Kindle Fie HDX
Where Can I Get It?- Again, a range of stores sell Kindle however, you can get it from amazon here  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kindle-Fire-HDX-Display-Wi-Fi/dp/B00CYR6UTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417438778&sr=8-1&keywords=kindle

So there were a few gift ideas that would be great for students. I know some may seem like an odd choice for a gift, but they will all be beneficial in some way! Lots of these gifts will also be ideal for those who aren't students too!

Thank you,
